BBC HD bitrate lowered – new quality HDLite

Not only our broadcasters no longer interferes as full transponder to put even more programs. That means in the case of the British BBC HD mostly new equipment and a new compression method, which was to be smaller than the old, but the effect is the same – the image quality clearly weaker. Such title ‘HDLite’. Unfortunately HD quality is often just a marketing slogan behind which hides pikseloza, a noticeable drop in sharpness and detail of the image, and even problems with proper colors. Different types of tricks, such as filters (softening), variable bit-rate (set in such a way that the average quality of the broadcast would be sufficient for the channel broadcast in standard definition), etc., etc. The thing is particularly noticeable in the case of such a poor display quality on larger HD receivers > 40, a clear deterioration in the size => 50 ‘.

There are few exceptions, including our broadcasters are able to show what a high resolution image. Such a positive example is the TVP HD. On the other hand is the HBO HD. It’s just so typical HDLite. Returning to the British, something improved recently (gently) on the quality of BBC HD, but still it is not the image quality that can be briefly beginning to enjoy the broadcast. Just to mention items such as TopGear series, Planet Earth, and at least a few new cycles of documentaries recorded the highest quality, produced by the BBC to understand that our customers have reason to complain – they want a picture similar to that which they admire in other, better broadcast channels like the History Channel HD. On a side note, an interesting decade in which the twenty-first century Polish viewers will see the offer to join the BBC HD. In our country the main ground floor is a British business Polsat. For now, discussions on this subject are taking place without any visible results.
